Schramm Park is located near Gretna, NE, just north of the Platte River. It features nature trails, a fish hatchery, the fish hatchery museum, an aquarium, and a picnic area.
When we first arrived, we stopped by the picnic area and checked out the fish hatchery museum. It is only a one room museum, so it didn't take long, but it had some interesting exhibits.

After the museum, we went outside to look at the hatchery ponds. These were swarming with carp, which was both fascinating and disgusting at the same time. We were greeted by a pair of Canadian geese. Unfortunately, they realized we didn't have food and became somewhat aggressive, hissing at us as they approached. Quickly removing ourselves from the area, we followed some stairs to the trails near a different pond.
After checking out the scenery there (sans-goose) we headed across the highway to our post, near the Platte River.

After we got our rubbing, we jumped back in the car and visited the aquarium.

| Some of the local species are on display in the aquarium. Note the giant wasp nest above the ducks. Papa is convinced that the one on our house will get this big if we don't get rid of the wasps there. |
Unfortunately, the photos from the aquarium portion didn't turn out well, but it was really neat, and the price was right. What a great activity for a rainy day.
